If humans create robots to complete everyday tasks and jobs, what would people do with extra time they’d have on their hands?
How would they earn a living? Would they watch more television? Play video games? Take more walks in the park?
“Where will that lead?” asked Lower Columbia College instructor Jerry Zimmerman, organizer of an upcoming LCC lecture series called “The New Frontier: Science, Medicine and the Future.”
The weekly series will explore how changes in science, medicine and technology will affect our lives.
The nine lectures will be held from noon to 1 p.m. on consecutive Thursdays starting Jan. 8. They will take place in the Wollenberg Auditorium in the college’s new Rose Center. The lectures are free and open to the public.

Caring for someone with memory loss? Alzheimer’s Association caregiver support groups provide a consistent and caring place for people to learn, share and gain emotional support from others who are also on a unique journey of providing care to a person with dementia. Recognizing that some caregivers find it challenging to access traditional support groups, the Chapter has launched a telephone support group that offers the benefits of a traditional face-to-face support group without the need to leave home. The toll-free teleconference group is held the third Tuesday of each month, from 7:30 – 9:00 p.m., and facilitated by Barbara Bridges, RN, MSN. If you are interested in participating, or for additional information, contact Linda Whiteside at (800) 848-7097 or linda.whiteside@alz.org.

More than five million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease; nearly 100,000 live in Washington State. The Alzheimer’s Association is the world leader in Alzheimer’s disease research and support. Through our national network of advocates and chapters, we advance research, improve services and care, create awareness of Alzheimer’s disease and mobilize support. Our vision is a world without Alzheimer’s disease. For more information on the Alzheimer’s Association, visit http://www.alz.org/alzwa/.

Renegade Minstrels musical textures reflect the range and richness of the Northwest where they play. Mandolin, harmonica, upright bass, trombone, drums, guitar and vocals fuse to form lyrical visions of Northwest vistas. Bandleader Joe Seamons draws on panoramic spirit of Woody Guthrie and other English literatuare to forge the band's original songs. Joes's words and melodies are spurred by the exuberant versatility of his four fellow musicians. Even at its rollicking and rambunctious peaks, renegade Minstrels' music contemplates the texture of Northwest living. "These guys have a sophistication about them that I can only explain as a passion for the music and a respect for the privilege of performing it." Caroline Wood/Longview playwright
